Compound Inequalities

compound inequalities: two inequalities combined with "and" or "or".

                                   - numbers must work in both inequalities for "and".

                                   - numbers work in either inequalities for "or".

ex.write inequalities.

A.x is more then 9   =   x>9

B.z is between 2 and 4    =    2<z<4

ex. Solve and Graph.

a.  3x + 1 < 4  OR   2x - 5 > 7

              x < 1 OR x > 6

              -4 < x ≤ 2
