Using Variables

 

VARIABLE- a letter that replaces a number

 

ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSION-  mathematical phrase that can use numbers, variables & operational symbols (+, -, *, eq=\div)

EXAMPLE:

                 6*X or 6X

 

QUESTION ONE:    Write an algebraic expression.

 

A)  8 less than X is....   X-8

 

B)  4 more than Y is...  Y + 4
